Journey Overview

Days 1–3

Oslo, Norway’s Vibrant Capital

You arrive in Oslo and meet your Local Host and fellow travelers at the hotel. That evening, the group boards a cruise along the Oslofjord for the welcome dinner — gliding past islands, summer houses, and a fortress that has guarded the harbor for seven centuries. Norway announces itself magnificently. The following day, a boat carries the group through the Oslo Archipelago — more than forty car-free islands of pine forest, rocky shores, and the kind of unhurried Norwegian summer life that the capital’s visitors rarely find. It’s one of the most enjoyable days of the program, and it happens on Oslo’s doorstep.

days 3-6

Balestrand, The Sognefjord Up Close

The journey west from Oslo follows one of the great rail routes in Europe: the Bergen Railway to Myrdal, then the Flåmsbana threading down through waterfalls and mountain gorges to the valley floor, and finally a ferry deep into the Sognefjord. By the time the group arrives in Balestrand, they have covered an astonishing amount of extraordinary ground in a single day. Two full days follow. The first explores the fjord at an intimate scale — a walking tour of the village, a RIB boat excursion on the Sognefjord, and a cider tasting at a local producer with apples grown on the fjordside farms. The second is devoted to Fjærland: a boat through the narrow Fjærlandsfjord to the Norwegian Glacier Museum, then a walk to Bøyabreen — a glacier tongue that descends almost to the valley floor, close enough to hear. The ferry back collects the group and continues onward to Bergen as the day fades.

days 6-8

Bergen, Old and New

The ferry arrives in Bergen as evening falls, and the city’s waterfront — colorful wooden buildings reflected in the harbor — is an extraordinary thing to arrive by. Bergen has been earning its reputation as Norway’s most characterful city for eight centuries, and a full day of exploration does it justice. The UNESCO-listed Bryggen wharf anchors a city that also has seven mountains, a fish market running since the 1200s, and the Fløibanen funicular that lifts you to the top of Mount Fløyen in four minutes. A guided city tour covers the essentials, with the funicular adding a vantage point that puts the entire program into perspective. The farewell dinner brings eight days of extraordinary Norway to a close in exactly the right spirit.

spend 2 nights at

Home Hotel Havnekontoret

Set in a beautifully restored harbourmaster’s building at the heart of Bergen’s waterfront, Home Hotel Havnekontoret blends maritime heritage with warm, contemporary design. The location is unbeatable — steps from Bryggen Wharf, the fish market, and the city’s most characterful streets. Rooms are thoughtfully designed with local touches, and the hotel’s relaxed atmosphere makes it feel less like a place to sleep and more like a genuine base for the city.

Reflecting local hospitality through the finest amenities

Our travelers tell us that hotels are an integral part of their travel experiences. So, our staff handpicks each property for its unique character, local charm, and attention to detail. In our selection we treat comfort, location and service as “simply the basics,” so our vetting process goes well beyond that. Furthermore, our travelers tell us that they want boutique hotels. Not big, chain ones, because they want to be constantly reminded of the authenticity of the destination. Those hotels must reflect the region’s hospitality through their amenities and cultural touches. Therefore, we select hotels with the goal of making every night of your journey as remarkable as the days spent exploring.

Authentic Gratitude from SilverOpus Travelers

our values

Our Promise to You Rests on Four Pillars

Respect

Simply fundamental. All that we do must, first and foremost, ensure that our clients, our partners, our staff and all those who live in our destinations feel entirely respected. The land must be respected. Nature must be respected. The people must be respected. All people. Honesty, fairness, care and much more are joined in a foundation of respect for all.

Authenticity

We study our destinations to understand what characterizes its beauty and relevance. Then, we fill our programs with what is most authentic about those destinations. We showcase nature, cuisine, hospitality and cultural experiences which are most valued by locals, not what is determined by the travel industry as most sellable. It is our way to stay true to authenticity, to enrich our programs with it.

Exclusivity

Our tribe is at the heart of what we do, every day. So, we don’t attempt to appeal to all. Instead, we put our efforts into creating excellence for those who love seeing the world like our tribe does. This philosophy restricts our audience to an exclusive set of travelers, and we don’t fight that. We embrace it and give them our everything.

Happiness

We are very serious about our work, but we can’t forget why we travel. And we travel because it makes us happy, joyous. Happiness from the scenery we see, the foods we taste, the people we meet and even from the hiccups that become fun stories, later on. So, we never forget that our work, serious as it is, is here to make you happy.
